Chairman’s report and news

Chairman’s Report – May 2025

Dear Members,

As I keep mentioning, we are continuing to face some challenges, but with your help I am sure we can overcome some of these.

On a lighter note, I am pleased to share some positive developments that give us reason to be optimistic.

We are incredibly grateful to Swift Digital Ltd, an IT company based in Barnet and market leaders in IT Support, Consultancy Services, and Cloud Solutions. Thanks to their generous donation, we now have a complete computer setup with all the necessary software. This has been a game-changer for us – we are now fully self-sufficient in producing our own colour media and promotional materials. It is a major step forward in helping us operate more independently and professionally. A heartfelt thank you to Tas and Francis for making this possible.

I would also like to encourage everyone to stay connected with us online. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates, photos, and announcements. Don’t forget to visit our website, where you’ll find everything from upcoming events to club news and resources.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting events this month. Our Cha Night is coming up on Friday, 9th May, followed by the Dream Circle on Saturday, 10th May. In fact, May is fully booked with fantastic entertainment! Please bring along your family and friends – on these special nights, you don’t have to be a member to join in the fun.

Pop in and support us whenever you can – we’re here for you, and with your help, we can keep things going and growing!”.

Meet Our Committee Members

I would also like to take a moment to introduce the amazing people who make up our committee.

These folks work hard behind the scenes to help keep everything running smoothly, and they do it all voluntarily. They are here because they care about the club and want to make sure it is a place where we can all have a great time together.

Here is a little bit about the team:

Jayne Jackson – Chairperson (Temporary): The Chairperson leads the committee, sets the direction for the club, and ensures everything runs smoothly. They are the main point of contact for any big decisions and guide the team to make sure we are meeting our goals.

John Staines – Secretary: The Secretary handles all the important paperwork, making sure we are all safe and sound.

Jayne Jackson – Treasurer: The Treasurer looks after the club’s finances, ensuring our budget is well managed and that we are financially healthy. They are responsible for making sure funds are used wisely and keeping track of membership fees and event costs.

Gerry McGannBar Operations Coordinator: Responsible for all operations involving the Bar from ensuring stock is ordered on time, to liaising with Events Co-Ordinator and Treasurer on the hiring of the Club.

Anne Moss – Membership Coordinator: The Membership Coordinator focuses on growing the club by reaching out to potential new members, keeping track of current members and fees, and ensuring everyone feels welcome and part of the community.

Marion HuntMeeting Coordinator: Takes minutes of all committee meetings, distributes minutes and maintains copies, track any actions that need to be carried out and assist with Agenda.

Mike McGannSnooker Maintenance Co-Ordinator: Responsible for both maintenance and cleanliness of the Snooker tables and cues.

There are a few other people who help us out with their free time and on behalf of the Committee we thank you – YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
